Virginia Tech Alumni Association
The renovation of the Virginia Tech Alumni site was a long process. The first steps involved updating content and standardization of page layout. Functionality was improved by switching from table to CSS layout combined with optimizing images and their use within the site. The page layout was based on the Virginia Tech's templates but the CSS was modified to both reflect the Alumni Association's specific audience and to facilitate registration for various events throughout the year. In cooperation with a very good back-end programmer, I was able to extend this style change from the traditional "information only" alumni association site through the secure event registration site. Functionality of the reservation procedures was updated by replacing an outdated javascript based system with PHP and MySQL. All of the new interfaces were placed in the new CSS layout and style creating continuity throughout the web site.
