All about Purpose

Filed under: Web Design — Douglas T @ 6:57 am

Why do you have a website? Does your site fulfill its purpose?

The old quote goes “Form ever follows function”. That’s as true in websites as it is about architecture. How your site is design is defined by how you want it to be used… or it should be. Does your site do what it’s intended to do?

Look around at websites long enough, and you’ll see a lot of sites that don’t let their function define their form. They were designed for one purpose, and are serving another. Maybe the site’s purpose has evolved with the times, but the design has lagged behind, maybe there is another reason. Every so often you need to step back and reevaluate your site’s purpose. Is form following function, or is form driving function?
